Introduction

Originally, the Banished Chronicles was the name of a linkshell started by Zayne in 2004. Currently, The Banished Chronicles has become a non-official way to name an organization that is really two shells. TheBanished and WayOfTheBanished linkshells.

Background

Shortly after the North American release of Final Fantasy XI, Zayne bought the Banished Chronicles linkshell. What made Banished Chronicles unique from most linkshells on the Shiva server was Zayne's emphasis on having a family oriented linkshell, and creating an environment where members helped other players (pearl holder or not) out of a desire to assist instead of a desire to profit. While not a group of a goody-two-shoes by any stretch of the imagination, the shell flourished by focusing on respecting it's members, and being helpful to anyone. Above all else, Zayne did not flaunt his role as leader, but instead created a sucessful linkshell by fostering a mindset that anyone should be able to take a leadership role when required.

In early 2005 BanishedChronicles assimilated another LS called ForgottenWarriors. While the transition was not a smooth or painless affair, when all was said and done, BanishedChronicles had grown to a very sucessful Linkshell with more than 75 members, and a membership base that spanned the globe.

In mid-2006 Zayne left the game, and handed over the leadership responsibilities to Meth, who is the current leader of the replacement shell The Banished. Meth has continued to encourage the values in the TheBanished that set BanishedChronicles apart from other shells.

TheBanished

This is the social gathering point for a very diverse group of players from all over the world, with vast array of temperments. Job levels range 1-75, and nearly every job class in Vana'diel is represented.

TheBanished takes over the social role of the original Banished Chronicles linkshell. Members are generally helpful, and members are encouraged to organize events. There are no requirements for being accepted into the The Banished linkshell other than having a character on Shiva server.

WayOfTheBanished

WayOfTheBanished is now defunct.

In late 2005, with some of the core members having reached level 75, a start-up effort for organizing end-game events was mounted. WayOfTheBanished was created as an event only linkshell. When not doing end-game activities, WayOfTheBanished members would resume their activity in TheBanished. The desire was as to extend Zayne's original socialist mentality into an end-game shell.

In 2007 the need for a second shell just for handling events was deemed unnecessary and the Shell was dropped.
